You want to broaden your horizon and try out some lesser known games? You are interested to find out what indie and small press games are out there waiting to be discovered? You have trouble committing to the time needed for a long-term campaign but you would really like to try out new games?
Then RTR Game Day is for you!
We are offering Try It Out style games, preferably in indie and small press games, on a 2-sessions-per-month cycle. Come and find out what RTR's GMs have to offer you!
We ask that you commit to both events in a month. Our GMs put in the effort to prepare and run a game for two sessions, one session per day. All you need to do is show up and enjoy the games we offer.
First May session (Check out the second session (http://www.meetup.com/Raleigh-Tabletop-Roleplayers/events/111075312/))
Game of Thrones -- GM: Ron Rossbach
Based on the book series by George R. R. Martin, the game was custom made to fit the setting and has experienced a soaring of interest since the release of the HBO series. Part of the character generation process is the house creation, during which players cooperatively piece together the noble house and its lands. Using only d6, the system captures the world of Westeros lovingly and efficiently integrates both social and military combat.
Players: Chris DeCarolis, Jennifer Stanley, Pedro Nunez +2, Ellabell (6 of 6)
Dungeon World -- GM: Brendan Clougherty
Dungeon World fuses the familiar trappings of D&D with a rules-light, story-focused system. If you've ever wished your D20 game was a little less about detailed skill lists and turn-based combat and a little more like your favorite fantasy novels, then this might be your game. If you love fantasy stories and want your character to do awesome and exciting things, face hard choices with every roll of the dice, and drive the action - then come play Dungeon World! All you will need is a set of polyhedral dice (although having two d6 speeds things up a bit) and a pencil. Character generation will happen at the table.
Players: Rick Hunt, Alok Baikadi, Gregory Fox, Joe Carr (4 of 6)
Changeling: The Lost -- CANCELLED!
The fifth supplementary role-playing game line published by White Wolf. It uses their signature Storytelling System for rules and is set in the new World of Darkness setting. "Changelings" are ordinary human beings who were kidnapped by the Fae and taken as slaves to their world, but who have managed to return to Earth. Like all of new World of Darkness, Changeling: The Lost uses dice pools of d10, made up of a combination of (usually) one Attribute and one Skill.
