Join us as we walk around Raleigh and the surrounding communities!
There are about 100 miles of Greenway Trails in the greater Raleigh area. There are lovely loop trails around many of the local lakes. There are river trails. There is the American Tobacco Trail, the Umstead State Forest, the Mountains to Sea trail, and the Eno River State Park. Our list of choices is pretty extensive!
This Meetup Group will simply highlight the various trails that are located in our area. And of course provide each of us the opportunity to meet new folks along the way!
These will be casual walks; likely done at a pace to cover 3 miles in an hour. We will choose locations that are deemed easy to moderate, and our total distance walked will generally be somewhere between 3 to 5 miles. Specific details as to terrain, distance to be walked, and expected total walking time will be posted within the description of each calendar event. We usually finish up in 60 to 90 minutes.
Please plan to arrive at the location a few minutes early, as we like to set out walking right at the scheduled time.
Please note that these are social gatherings, coordinated by volunteers. These walks are not lead by professional tour guides, and are not staffed by folks trained in first aid. Participation is at your own risk. We all try to watch out for each other, but bottom line is you are responsible for your own well being. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes!
Dogs will be welcome on most scheduled walks. Rabies tags must be up to date. Dogs must be leashed at all times. And prompt cleanup after your dog is a must. If your dog displays aggression towards others, sorry, but we'll have to ask you to bow out of the walk.
This Meetup does have a photo requirement. You must submit a recent photo of yourself and post it in your profile before being approved into the group. You will be declined until a recognizable picture is posted. We do, after all, need to be able to recognize you at Meetups!
