The SEO community has always had to face the challenge of naysayers, chicken littles, and even opportunist Adwords specialists who denounce the efficacy of search engine optimization. We are going to have an open discussion regarding some of the misconceptions and realities driving these perspectives and present some ideas for ways you can address them with your customers, management, and your own personal development in a fast-paced, ever-evolving industry.
Jake Bohall leads SEO strategy for Hive Digital, a marketing agency focused on amplifying the impact of organizations changing the world. Jake challenges his clients daily to "be the best" and pulls from over 10 years of experience to help them discover and implement scalable solutions to increase discovery, relevance, and authority in order to succeed in search. When he is not coaching clients on best practices or learning from his team, he spends his time enjoying his family and looking for new problems to solve.
In this talk, you will learn:
What is SEO, what has changed, and why?
The difference between “VHS dead” and “Elvis dead”, and how this applies to SEO
When you should focus on keywords, content, links, and intent
Favorite tools for raising the dead
“Search Engine” Optimization is not “Google” Optimization
In summary, YOUR SEO might be dead... because you're doing it wrong.
If you think SEO is dead, add the following to your robots.txt
5:00 - 6:30 Networking Pizza Party
6:30 - 8:00 Presentation with Q/A
8:00 - 9:00 Rookie's Networking After Party
My suggestion, arrive early and avoid the traffic. There is a free co-working space on the first floor at The Frontier which you can use until 5PM. When that closes, join us for the networking pizza party (follow the whiteboard signs in the hall). The presentation will begin promptly at 6:30, so don't be late. Q/A will wrap up by 8PM, but you don't have to go home. Continue the conversation at Rookie's Sports Bar only 6 min away in RTP (4911 Central Park Dr).
If you cannot attend the networking events before or after the meeting, feel free to drop in for the presentation from 6:30 - 8:00.
If you want some pizza, arrive early. If you prefer beer, stay late. If you want to have a great evening with other SEO marketers, join us for both.
