FINE FRENCH FOOD! 11AM Sunday Brunch on 2/24/2019 at Creamy Spoon: 106 N Glendale Ave, Glendale, CA 91206 - https://www.creamyspoon.com This is an event for everybody. Conversation topics will include discussions about both literature and art: Lise Deharme- "Le Coeur de Pic" Robin Mckinley- "The Hero and The Crown" Ray Bradbury- "The Halloween Tree" There will be a zero tolerance policy for harassment of any kind at this meetup. Any kind of discrimination will not be allowed. People who disrespect others within the group or restaurant will be told to leave.
Have you always wanted to learn how to dance, but maybe didn’t feel quite comfortable attending classes at a straight dance studio? Well, look no further, we are offering queer dance classes!! I have a professional teacher, Arlene Santos, with more than 20 years of teaching experience, who will be showing you all the moves! Arlene also has her own dance company and is a skilled performer, and choreographer! She is going to make sure that you will be getting the best dance experience ever!! We are currently offering a 90 minute salsa/bachata class combo. You don’t need a dance partner for either class. Time: 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. => beginner salsa and bachata class (no previous dance experience needed. Location: Private home. Will send out address to people who RSVP. Cost: $10.00 payable in cash before each class. This is going to be a super fun! Make sure you don’t miss it!! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, NO PARTNER NECESSARY!! .
• What we'll do From 7:30-8:00 mingling over free drinks. The show starts at 8:00 so we'll get seats and enjoy the first couple of comics. During intermission we can get to know each other better and then after the second half (around 10) the night owls in the group can go out for a late snack at Crave or 4 N 20 restaurant on Laurel Canyon. • What to bring Cash to tip the comics and a sense of humour :-) • Important to know Entry-FREE, Parking-FREE, Drinks-FREE! This show is completely uncensored, so be warned! Your funny bone will be tickled and your sensibilities may be challenged. This month marks our 4th anniversary of Laugh Out Proud and we are so excited to present and all-female lineup to honor Women's HIstory Month! Scheduled to appear are: Georgia native Bobbie Oliver, named one of the “Best Comics in America” by the New York Post, she is a regular on the L.A. comedy scene and can be heard on Sirius XM Comedy Radio. Winner of the Hollywood Ha Ha Festival and LA Super Bowl of Comedy, Bobbie owns Tao Comedy Studio in Los Angeles and published the Tao of Comedy: Embrace the Pause. Dana Eagle, Author of How To Be Depressed, a Guide and has been seen on NBC's Last Comic Standing, The Late, Late Show, Comedy Central, and Comics Unleashed. Cathy Lewis, who has performed regularly at the Comedy Store and has also appeared on Last Comic Standing on NBC, The Journey of Allen Strange for Nickelodeon, Comic View for BET, and The Jenny Jones Show. Betsy Salkind, who has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and she was also a staff writer for “SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL” and “ROSEANNE” (the sitcom), and a joke writer for Anthony Robbins. Michelle March who has appeared at the Laugh Factory, Tao Comedy and hosts the Youtube series, Coming Out. Laugh Out Proud is the Unitarian Universalist Church of Studio City’s outreach program for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning communities as part of our Welcoming Congregation program. Doors open at 7:30 pm for free drinks and socializing followed by a brief explanation of Unitarian Universalism at 8:00 pm. Donations are accepted on behalf of the comics who otherwise volunteer their time for our enjoyment.
For our March LGBTQ salsa/bachata dance party, we have a special treat in store for you. For the first time ever, our student dance team will perform their salsa/bachata dance routine. Come cheer them on! Showtime is at 10:45 pm. 🏳️🌈💃 There will be a free dance class at 9 pm. We'll also provide some drinks and snacks (as long as supplies last). Feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks/booze. There will be dancing all night long to the best salsa and bachata music. All levels are welcome. You can be a beginner or expert dancers.
