Come learn about Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE®), a gentle and innovative series of exercises that assist in releasing deep muscular patterns of tension and trauma, safely activating a natural shaking or vibrating mechanism that calms the nervous system and restores balance to the body. TRE is designed to release stress or tension from the body that accumulates from everyday circumstances of life, difficult situations, immediate or prolonged stressful situations, or traumatic life experiences (e.g., natural disasters, social or domestic violence). In this multimedia presentation, certified TRE provider Leah Harris will discuss the history and theory of TRE, and the neuroscience behind shaking as an innate self-healing mechanism. The evening will conclude with a live demonstration of TRE. Participants will learn about upcoming opportunities to experience TRE, either privately or with a group.
Leah Harris is a speaker, trainer, and an advocate who works nationally with health care and social service providers, colleges and universities, and community-based organizations to raise awareness about the impacts of toxic stress and trauma, as well as mind-body skills for resilience. In May 2018, she received her certification as a Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE) provider, and is excited to bring this unique modality to individuals and groups in the Washington, DC area.
