React Native Meetup

*** SPEAKERS ***

1. Viktor Marohnic - On the Making of “Shoutem”

How and why we created an open source React Native UI toolkit that should enable people to create great looking apps with ease. I'll give an overview of reusable UI components, themes and animation library that comes in a package. https://shoutem.github.io/ui/

About Viktor:

I'm a founder and a CEO of two companies in mobile app development space. Five is a NYC/Zagreb based mobile development agency with 130+ people serving US based clients such as Rhapsody, Random House, Squarespace, Roseta Stone, Real Networks. Shoutem is a CMS for native mobile apps with 5000+ apps released to the app store up to date

2. Tom Goldenberg - Getting Started with React Native

Tom is an author of the tutorial Build React Native (www.buildreactnative.com), and a web and mobile engineer at Agolo.  In this talk, he'll explain how he became involved with React Native and demo how to get started, drawing from examples in the Build React Native tutorial.

3. Connor McEwen - Flare in Production: A Year with React Native

My team started building Flare from scratch in React Native a year ago. Since then, we've launched on both iOS and Android, been featured in both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and built a team developing a RN mobile client, React web application, and Node backend. I'll share what it actually means to be cross platform, how to deal with updates, some tips on how to structure your team and development workflow, and of course demo Flare.

Connor McEwen is the Lead Engineer on the Emerging Products team at GoDaddy. He's worked both on the web and in native mobile development previously, but now spends his time happily reacting to JS fatigue.

Building was beautiful but guards were unhelpful. Building is too long a walk from subway for me. Presentations were great.

Hey Everyone - fantastic evening! As I mentioned towards the end, HuddleUp is hiring React Native developers. We're a venture-backed stealth mode startup located near Union Square. For more info, email me - [masked].

React devs also welcome - our website is crap (our stealth is strong).

*** GETTING IN *** Just FYI, AMEX requires ***full names*** for check-in. If you don't have your full name in your profile, either change it or send me a message with the full name. The entry to American Express is on the 2nd floor of the building and is accessible via Brookfield place. The entrance is right next to a “Financier” café in the building. Check-in is from 6:30pm till 7:30pm. If you have a bag, there is a short screening.

*** VOLUNTEERS *** We do need some extra help with check-in and with setting up refreshments. If you would like to help volunteer please message me or email at thomasagoldenberg at gmail. We really appreciate the help!

    Hello all,

I am in need of a developer who is proficient in Parse, specifically Live Queries, for a React Native project that I am currently building. If anyone is interested in hearing more or knows of someone who may be interested, please reach out to me at brightdanawhite (at) gmail.com. Thanks.

Never mind. I decided to use Firebase instead.
