Thursday African Drumming Lessons!
Thursday evening evening drumming! Format for the workshops as follows: Both workshops will now run from 7-10pm with the first 2 hours being the main group the first hour will be for beginners/improvers and people that just want to practise, the second hour being mixed level suitable for everyone and the last hour will be dedicated to solos for the rhythms, so more advanced. This gives me an exciting opportunity to share a lot more material with you and give the workshops a more flexible feel so you can study what you feel is suitable to your level. Payment options are: 1. Main group which runs from 7-9pm will be £7 . 2. second group which starts at 8 and runs through to 10pm is £7. 3. The full workshop from 7-10pm is £9. Wednesday nights are in the smaller room, Thursday nights are in the wonderfully warm Garden room of the Weller centre, I now have the new Dun Duns from Wula drum so on this night there will be more Duns for people to play, Please note I'll just be using small dun set on a Wednesday so there will be less opportunity to play duns on the Wednesday. There will be a small tea break in between each hour as per usual. Look forward to seeing you!

What we're about

This group is for people who have an interest in and are looking to learn hand drumming playing West African Djembe drums and Dun Dun drums. We're a friendly drum circle based In Reading at Readipop Studios currently with around 15 members. we play every Wednesday from 7-9pm working on lots of different rhythms, we're looking for beginner level and upwards players to join our group. I've been lucky enough to travel to West Africa to learn from master drummers Mamady Keïta, Seckou Keita and many others and have been playing for about 16 years, I'll guide right from beginning techniques required to play the drums through the Djembe parts, Dun Dun (bass drums) parts onto Djembe accompaniment parts and solo parts. Regardless of what level you are there is always something you can play, we've had lots of new people recently join so if you are a beginner your more than welcome were a friendly bunch and the center we play at is always bristling with other groups and musicians so It's a fantastic opportunity to socialize with like minded people. This year working closely with Readipop we also have had plenty of opportunity for performances as well so if your interested please contact me drums can be provided I look forward to hearing from you.
