Reasonable Faith is a global organization founded by Dr. William Lane Craig centered around this core objective: To provide an intelligent, articulate, and uncompromising yet gracious Christian perspective on the important issues concerning the truth of the Christian faith.
The Louisville, Kentucky chapter of Reasonable Faith seeks to see this objective fulfilled in the local context in three important ways:
1. Providing an articulate, intelligent voice for biblical Christianity in the public arena.
2. Challenging unbelievers with the truth of biblical Christianity.
3. Training Christians to state and defend Christian truth claims with greater effectiveness.
To this end, we meet monthly and discuss a particular topic relating the Christian faith in a thoughtful, intelligent, and loving way. All are welcome to participate.
Alvin Plantinga is one of the most prominent analytical philosophers of the modern era. His contributions to the philosphy of religion in the areas of religious epistemology (our understanding of knowledge), theodicy (answers to the problem of evil), and the ontological argument have fueled a philosphical awakening among Christian scholars.
In "Where the Conflict Really Lies: Science, Religion, and Naturalism" Plantinga tackles the issue of the supposed conflict between science and religion (specifically, Christian theism). The main thesis of the book is: "there is superficial conflict but deep concord between science and theistic religion, but superficial concord and deep conflict between science and naturalism."
During the October meeting of Reasonable Faith Louisville, we will be reviewing and discussing the arguments Plantinga puts forward in this book. You are welcome to read the book prior to the meeting, if you'd like - but it is not necessary. An overview of the book and the arguments will be given to spark discussion.
All viewpoints are welcome! Snacks and coffee will be provided. Park in the rear lot of the church and follow the signs for "Reasonable Faith" to find the meeting room. Feel free to message with any questions! Hope to see you there!
