Reasons to Believe (RTB) chapters exist to promote the truth and plan of God as observed through general revelation (God’s world) and special revelation (God’s word). We seek to present and test the unity of these revelations, provided by a loving Creator without contradiction, as powerful evidence of God’s providence and redemptive plan for mankind. We aim to use good science, trustworthy biblical interpretation, and a spirit of humble presentation and respectful dialogue.
We meet on Friday nights once a month. Following a short snack and chit-chat, we watch an approximately 20min lecture of RTB founder and president Dr. Hugh Ross (or another relevant speaker) then discuss the topic in the video for about an hour. Skeptics, Christians, scientists and lay persons are all welcome!
RTB's mission is to spread the Christian Gospel by demonstrating that sound reason and scientific research—including the very latest discoveries—consistently support, rather than erode, confidence in the truth of the Bible and faith in the personal, transcendent God revealed in both Scripture and nature.
Meet at Cafe Logos for a quick snack and chit-chat with other members, then settle in to watch a video of Abdu Murray on "Clarity in a Confused World: Preferences and feelings vs facts and truth." We will then discuss the video as a group in a respectful, casual, but intellectual atmosphere - all opinions are welcome!
About the speaker: Abdu Murray is the North American Director for RZIM (Ravi Zacharias International Ministries) and is the author of three books, including his latest, Saving Truth: Finding Meaning and Clarity in a Post-Truth World. For most of his life, Abdu was a proud Muslim who studied the Qur’an and Islam. After a nine year investigation into the historical, philosophical, and scientific underpinnings of the major world religions and views, Abdu discovered that the historic Christian faith can answer the questions of the mind and the longings of the heart. Abdu is the Scholar in Residence of Christian Thought and Apologetics at the Josh McDowell Institute of Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
Visit Reasons to Believe at booth 32 where our friendly members can answer your questions and will be selling RTB books at cost! Also our local chapter leader Lester Marr will be giving a talk titled "Strengthening Faith with Science" on Friday at 2:30pm in room 9.
