Steel Lake is small and usually very calm water. I will bring 4 kayaks, paddles, and a couple PFDs. I have Personal Flotation Devices for kids, youth, and adults but not four of each. If you have a PFD you can bring, please do so. This will be a great time to try out a recreational and/or sea kayak in a casual invironment. Anybody with their own kayak is also encouraged to come down with your boat and join the group. If we have more people than boats we can trade time with the different kayaks available.
When entering the park, do not take a left to the main parking lot. Head straight towards the boat launch. The small parking lot by the boat launch may fill up if it is a nice sunny day. You can then park at the other lot and walk over. This is a public park so no parking permits or fees at all.
Wet suit or dry suit is not required. Bring clothes that you are comfortable to swim in or get wet and of course a change of clothes just in case. It is very unlikely that you will have an issue with tipping over in one of the two recreational kayaks.
