Hike and be refreshed!
Happy New Year!!! I bet you are ready to get outdoors and enjoy the beauty of winter! Consider going on this exciting hike. The Dakota Prairie Chapter of the North Country Trail is sponsoring a hike on the Sheyenne River Overlook section of the trail. It will take place on Saturday, January 20, 2018. We will meet at the east trailhead at 10:00 A.M. It will be an out and back 7 mile hike, that will take approximately 3 hours. This hike is considered moderate. There are several small hills, which will enable us to view beautiful winter vistas. Even though it's winter, you'll still need plenty of water, snacks, and a lunch. If we get more snow, we may hike or snow shoe, depending on the depth. I will contact you about that later. Please respond on meetup if you plan to attend. Winter hiking is exhilarating if you dress correctly. I spent an hour cross country skiing at minus 20 and was toasty warm, as I had dressed for the weather conditions. Directions to the trailhead from Fargo: Drive south on I-29 to the Kindred exit, turn right on SR 46, drive through Kindred and proceed another 6 miles to 160 Avenue, turn left, drive about 5 miles until you see the trailhead on your right. (car pooling will be available) See you on the 20th! Rennae Gruchalla Outings Leader Dakota Prairie Chapter of the NCT
