Cedar Hill Sweat Lodge Ceremony

  • This location is shown only to members

This sweat lodge ceremony will take place Sunday March 16th at 08:00 am in Cedar Hill, Mo. Tokani will lead the ceremony and pour. A sweat lodge ceremony is both sacred and physically rigorous. For this reason, there are clearly outlined practices which require both commitment and planning on behalf of the participants. 1 Do not consume any alcohol the night before the sweat. The focus should be on hydrating the body, and preparing mentally and spiritually. 2 An offering of a tobacco for the pourer is considered good manners. Small monetary donations are always appreciated but not required. 3 Newcomers are always welcome. However, in order to ensure that all participants are fully prepared to participate in a sweat, we ask that all newcomers agree to observe and act in supporting role at least twice before taking part in the ceremony in the lodge. 4 Bring a change of clothing and a towel if participating in the sweat. Drums and rattles are also welcome. 5 If you bring something for the altar please check with Tokani before placing the item on it. 6 Within the lodge, proper dress is required. Women should wear a skirt with a loose fitting top. Men should wear shorts. 7 Please remove all metal jewelry, piercings or belt buckles before entering the lodge. You will thank us for this reminder as the lodge gets quite hot. 8 Bring enough water to rehydrate yourself after the sweat. In the spirit of community we also ask that you bring something simple and nutritious to share. Fruit, salads and lighter fare are always a good choice.
9 Please RSVP so we know who to expect. We look forward to seeing you and meeting one another in a good way. Call with questions or concerns.

Although the weather didn't permit for travel it was great to get together. Thanks for coming!

If Tokani is sick it would be good for him to rest. I will be happy to reschedule; I hope he gets better fast.
