The Ethelburga Walk: Barking to Bishopsgate

  • This location is shown only to members

A wonderful charity walk between Barking and Bishopsgate in London following a 9 mile route between two sites associated with St Ethelburga - Barking Abbey and St Ethelburga's Centre. "The route runs through an intriguing part of East London, mostly through green spaces and along canal towpaths, avoiding roads. It's easy going and should take an average walker less than four hours.

There'll be storytelling, music and refreshments en route to give you a great day out for a good cause. Children and dogs welcome!"

There is a Registration Fee of £10 for the walk, payable on the day (all going to St Ethelburgas). For more details about the Centre and the Ethelburga Walk see https://www.stethelburgas.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=577

Look forward to seeing you there!

what a amazing day----ok it rained at the beginning but not for that long and most people were prepared for that. The walk was interesting, showing you can walk around the eastern end of london without going on the road too much. we had snacks and drinks at the beginning to help us round, more snacks and drinks half way round and the reception we had at the end at St Ethelburga's was really really lovely----tea.coffee,juice,cake, a veggie one pot meal, wine, juice and more!!! indian music too. They were so kind and appreciative of the walk we did-----please go along to check out what they do there, it really is a special place---surrounded in the city by the gherkin and other BIG high rise buildings. it has a lovely courtyard garden and a really really cool yurt!!!The people who didn't make it in the end really missed a very special event.
