Calling all a cappella aficionados (beginners and others)! Are you looking to sing Renaissance motets or madrigals purely for pleasure (at least for now)? Would you like to take an active role in conducting the ensemble and suggesting polyphonic works for us to learn and enjoy? Are you a frustrated choral singer who's tired of slogging through endless 1-4-5 chord progressions? If you can sight-read, are you patient enough to help others who might be struggling? Do you have a voice that isn't solo-quality, but you love to sing anyway? (I do.) If any of this sounds (!) like you, please consider joining.
I recognise that the premise of this group is exceptional, even for classical music enthusiasts. Hence, I'll refrain (!) from posting an initial Meetup event until I've gauged everyone's interest and schedulling considerations. Bonus points if you can suggest a low-cost or freely available venue that's local and accessible by transit. (My living space is too small for me to play (!) host, and courtesy of low vision, I would be Public Enemy Number One behind the wheel of a car.) Please respect everyone's comfort by avoiding heavy perfumes, colognes, aftershaves, and the like; migraines and music don’t play well together.
Come prepared to give centuries-old music a new voice and enjoy each other’s company in the process. Further bonus points if you love puns!
