What we're about

Resilient Roots is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate and promote awareness about permaculture landscapes that are primarily edible and are guided by ecological principles. We empower people, through our educational and outreach events, to grow their own food in a manner that is sustainable and uses local resources. We provide a structure to connect, support, and collaborate with individuals and organizations interested in learning and practicing the art of permaculture landscape design.

Lets talk about Plants! June 1st 9:30 AM- 12:00 PM Permaculture design is the art and science of putting combinations of plants and animals together in patterns that forge mutually beneficial relationships, creating an ecosystem that is more than the sum of its parts. By using fruits, nuts, vegetables, herbs, mushroom and other useful plants, in a way that mimics natural ecosystems, we can create beautiful, diverse, high-yielding gardens. These designs were created with an understanding of ecosystem function and the goal is to create a largely self-maintaining site once it is established. We will take a look at a permaculture site that was started about 3 years ago and a site that is was started 7 years ago located just a 1/4 mile from each other in West Barnstable.
