Details

Russian operatives attacked our elections in 2016. This November, intelligence agencies warn us, they’ll be back. Will we be ready? Nearly two years later, important parts of our election infrastructure remain perilously weak. Congress has stalled efforts to implement critical protections. But there are still steps our election officials can take to ensure that the results of our elections are legitimate and widely perceived to be so.

Join us for a discussion with Brennan Center experts and election officials from around the country to discuss contingency planning and steps localities should take to be best prepared.

Brenda Cabrera, General Registrar and Director of Elections, Voter Registration and Elections, City of Fairfax

Edgardo Cortés, Election Security Advisor, Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law

Laura Grace, Election Protection Manager, Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law

Lawrence Norden, Deputy Director, Democracy Program, Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law

Noah Praetz, Director of Elections, Office of Cook County Clerk, David Orr

A light lunch will be served.
