Please join us for the Jax DSA May Zoom meeting on May 28th at 7 pm. Sign up for the meeting below.
The theme of the May Zoom meeting will be Tenants’ Rights and Housing Justice.
We will have two special guests from Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA) -- Staff Attorney and Coordinator, Suzanne Garrow, and Managing Attorney Mary DeVries.
They will provide information to our members on tenant’s rights and the assistance and legal services available through JALA. We will also learn about the severity of the local housing issues facing Jacksonville, and how Jax DSA is planning to organize a movement to address these issues. We invite all members to join in this effort.
On the housing issue we would also encourage all members to contact your Congressional representatives and ask them to support the Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act introduced by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
Click this link to sign up and they will send you the Zoom link:

2) the end of excessive force by JSO and community control of the police
3) the release of inmates to stop the spread of COVID-19 and transparency in numbers of those inmates with COVID as well as sanitation reports of facilities
We will he participating in a caravan protest outside of the Duval County jail. We will be meeting at the empty lot across from the jail off E. Bay Street near JSO which is at 501 E. Bay Street.
