On Thursday, March 14th, The Violet Crown in Santa Fe is premiering Sylvia Johnson's stunning new short film, Refuge(e). This is a film about migration, political asylum, and the harsh realities of corporate immigration detention in New Mexico. This screening will be a benefit for the Santa Fe Dreamers Project.
"When you get to the place of refuge, the people you think will help you make you out to be a criminal and put you in prison."
At this special event, there will be a short presentation about divesting from corporate detention and discussion of efforts in the legislature to curtail corporate detention. We will also be joined by two Dreamers former clients who were detained in our local prison. This is an amazing opportunity to learn about immigration detention in NM up close.
There are limited tickets so please reserve them soon.
The Santa Fe Dreamers Project looks forward to seeing you and to coming together as a community around the issue of immigration detention!
(If you cannot make this showing, the film will also be shown on Sunday March 17 at 4:00pm at the Unitarian Church.)
