Belsize Park Restart Party
Restart Parties are free and fun events giving practical help to fix your broken or tired gadgets. Slow laptops, broken printers, coffee grinders, lamps, kettles, vacuums and many other small electrical items! We’ll help you figure out the problem and give help and advice on how to fix it. Restart Parties promote the repair and maintenance of electronics that may otherwise be thrown away. Our volunteers will help you learn to fix, we're not simply a free repair service and we can’t guarantee to fix everything. Repairs will start at 18:30. If you're new to Restart and interested in helping host or fix, please aim to arrive at 18:00 for a brief introduction session. Checklist: - Bring any chargers, leads, and cables your device needs - Back your data up in advance of attending the Party - If your smartphone needs a screen repair, please see our advice page first: https://therestartproject.org/community/screen-repairs/ Important to know If your device is still within warranty, you may be eligible for a free repair, replacement or a refund. (Which? helps in the UK). We don't carry many spare parts, but we can help you source them. Often people visit twice: first to diagnose the fault, then on the return (with replacement part) we’ll help do this replacement. We cannot repair microwaves due to safety issues. This is a free event, however donations of snacks and money are always appreciated

What we're about

Public Group

Restarters are people who like helping other learn how to fix broken electronics and electricals - anything with a battery or that plugs in - with a few exceptions for safety, like microwaves.

Restarters have diverse skills. Some help with basic electrical fixing involving changing fuses and plugs. Others deal with software issues on laptops and mobiles. What unites Restarters is the love of a repair challenge and their collaborative approach. Join us, make a difference, help empower people by teaching repair, and reduce e-waste.

The Restart Project promotes community self-repair events for Restarters called "Restart Parties" in greater Camden and Brixton. In other communities in London, other organisations host - we will indicate the hosts for events.

Please note that children are more than welcome at Restart Parties, but only when accompanied by their guardians.

If you would like to reach out to more people by hosting your own Restart Party, write us at community@therestartproject.org
