My name is April Dawn. I love yoga! I teach it because it makes my heart sing with the added benefit of keeping my body young! I took my initial hatha training at Yoga Within and I could not have asked for a better studio to train with. Education is a life long journey, I continue to study what interests me in the yoga world, which has lead me to the therapeutic application of yoga. I believe that yoga is for every BODY! Whatever your ailment, body type, age, fitness level or attitude there is asana (poses) and breathe for you!
We all have the activities that we love and keep us young at heart; alongside my love for yoga is my love for snowboarding and the outdoors. Put them together and you have the perfect remedy for the balance of mind, body and spirit. I am drawn to the healing aspects of yoga in the physical body, the state of mind and the connection between the two. In regards to the physical body I enjoy working with pure movement, this helps to relieve pain and get back to the things we all love to do. In the mind, I intend to draw awareness to the present moment and exploring the path to change our present circumstances. In my past I had an extremely bad snowboarding accident and as a result, I experienced constant migraine strength headaches, which hindered me from free movement. I could not snowboard, I could not hike and I could barely walk or even work. However my belief in self-healing was and will always be strong, so I continued going to yoga classes, exercising at home, working with meditation and different pranayama techniques. All of these practices kept me going while renewing my strength. As time past, with my energy focused on living a pain free life my healing unfolded before me, the answers came and today I am able to get back to riding mountains.
It is my intention to share my knowledge, my experience, and my passion for healing with you. Working together one on one I will design a yoga program for your body and for your needs. You will learn the way your body can compensate for the different muscle groups causing potential pain and movement issues. You will learn about the connection between the mind and the body as well as the link between our thoughts and our reality. All of which will help you move toward an empowered, healthy and pain free life!
Imagine playing on the floor with your children and even your grandchildren. Imagine getting back to your favorite activities. Imagine a life where you are not restricted by your pain, but truly embody the power of the present moment. All of this is a possibility and so much more! We are limitless!
