Lets go down the Upper Haw!

This is a very fun run with a lot of class 1 & 2 rapids starting from the Chicken Bridge and continuing on to the 15/501 takeout. Its possible that this trip may be converted to the section of river immediately below this starting at the Bynum Bridge if water levels are high enough.

We will arrange shuttle operations to get all members and their equipment from the bottom of the river to the top after the trip. There is no fee for members with their own equipment. We will make equipment available for the fee of $45.00. However, this is not a trip for the first timers. For those who are interested in getting acquainted with this sport please click on this page for a good beginners run. Those needing equipment will be presented with an on-line payment option with your RSVP

Details for this trip can be found by clicking Upper Haw - Chicken Bridge to[masked]

Thanks a lot Wes and the rest of the Sat on the Haw Crew. I had a great time and really appreciate the effort everyone made to pitch in and assist when the group was in distress. Awesome teamwork today. I want to hang out with you kids again sometime soon. I knew this was gonna be a brilliant day when I read the put in location name. One can't go wrong when their day starts at chicken bridge or chicken anything for that matter. Lol cheers.

Where and when do you want to meet to coordinate shuttle, etc? I have my subaru with an extra rack so happy to help.

Wes, at Chicken Bridge, can you specify where to park? Not really seeing anything but side-road parking on google maps. I am bringing my own life jackets, just need 2 kayaks, 2 paddles. Will bring a back up set of paddles just in case.

How should we prepare for this trip? Skirts, helmets, flare guns?
Just want to make sure we have the right goodies in our bag. :)

This is about a 5 hour trip. Your normal equipment is fine. I don't wear a skirt but it could be useful on this run. You should bring something to eat and drink.

I don't own a skirt (not that kind any way), but will try to make due w/ big trash bags! Update on a storm plan closer to the time.

Wes, I will need to rent 2 kayaks for this run! No way I'm using my sea kayaks.

I've got you covered. I'll bring two with me for you.
