What we're about

We are a group of Unitarian Universalism who live in and around Davie FL and we encourage each individual to develop a personal creed. Our beliefs draw from many different religions, in the belief that no single religion has all the answers and that most have something to teach us. The ultimate determination of what is sacred is found for each of us by our own direct experience. River of Grass, as a Unitarian Universalist Congregation, welcomes all persons, without regard to race/ethnicity, color, national origin, political affiliation, religion, disability, gender, age, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status. As a welcoming congregation, we celebrate religious freedom, nurture individual spiritual and ethical growth, celebrate diversity, and promote a just and sustainable world.

Our Service and Social Justice Committee (SSJC) provides members and friends with a variety of opportunities to express their faith through service that may include working with community service agencies or developing projects unique to our own congregation.

Choir Practice (for singers and wanna be singers)

River of Grass UU Congregation

All you need is a desire to make beautiful music together and to be part of a great community.

Mindful Meditation - Flowing River Sangha

River of Grass UU Congregation

Every Tuesday night at 7:15PM, there will be Flowing River Sangha, a new small group ministry. We will be practicing together the mindfulness meditation technique called Vipassana meditation, also known as insight meditation. There is no charge for this event. You will be learning and practicing Anapana meditation, or meditation on the breath, which is the first step on the path toward Vipassana. This first step can be in and of itself a deeply beneficial practice. You don't have to ever move beyond this step, or sit longer than 20 minutes at a time to receive the many scientifically documented benefits of a regular mindfulness meditation practice, which include: • Reduced rumination • Stress reduction • Boosts to working memory • Improved Focus • Less emotional reactivity • More cognitive flexibility • Increased Relationship satisfaction • Numerous health benefits, including increased immune functioning, improvement to well-being, and reduction in psychological distress • Increased information processing speed • Improved task efficiency • Other benefits: Mindfulness has been shown to enhance self-insight, morality, intuition and fear modulation. Chairs will be provided for all participants, but feel free to bring your own meditation cushions. Photo credit: Mitchell Joyce https://goo.gl/gMhDyT
