I will reschedule this for the following week if the weather does not cooperate. Range Rd is a very popular road that cyclists use since there is very little traffic on that road, and the vehicles that do use it know to expect bicycles and are very courteous. It is a road though, and not a trail, so you will need to have some comfort in being able to ride on a road. Also, because this is part of the Eglin Reservation you will need to have an Eglin Recreational pass on you in case we get stopped by the police and asked to show our passes. You can do that online and print out your pass, here is the website to get that. https://eglin.isportsman.net/OutdoorRecPermits.aspx.
The goal will be to go to the first stop sign and back for a total of 17 miles, but we'll just go with the flow and see how everyone feels. This is a no drop ride so you won't be left behind. Depending on the size of the group, we'll either split up into different groups based on speed (the faster groups will wait at certain points to regroup before continuing), or we will only go as fast as our slowest rider if its a smaller group.
What you'll need for this ride:
- A bicycle. Doesn't necessarily need to be a Road Bike, but should have some gears.
- Eglin Recreational pass (see above)
- Extra tire tubes or patch kit in case of a flat
- Plenty of water
