What we're about

Current state of road safety in the coutry and our state is a matter of rising concern with more lives lost than some of the dreadful diseases. We have all known friends & family members who have either lost their members to road accidents or handicapped owing to it.

In the past decade about 1 million people have died and over 5 million people have been injured or disabled due to road crashes. 20 children are killed every day in India due to road crashes. The figures of road crashes and deaths is alarming and lots needs to be done to curb this preventable cause of death and morbidity to prevent a huge drain on Indian economy. Incidentally Karnataka happens to be the fourth worst state for number of road deaths in India. In the last six years Karnataka has witnessed 2,66850 accidents and lost 59,000 lives. We need to work together to improve road safety. Some important steps needed are:

1) NEED A STRONG ROAD SAFETY LAW
2) STRINGENT PUNISHMENT FOR SPEEDING AND DRINK DRIVING
3) ESTABLISHMENT OF AN INDEPENDENT AND EMPOWERED LEAD AGENCY FOR ROAD SAFETY
4) MANDATORY SAFE DRIVING TRAINING FOR ALL
5) STATUTES FOR PROTECTION OF CHILDREN DURING COMMUTE
6) STRICT REGULATIONS FOR HEAVY MOTOR VEHICLES (HMVS) SUCH AS TRUCKS, BUSES AND LORRIES
