Open Access / Robot Arena

Bring your own project and work on it while hanging out with other makers at Robot Garden or come and help set up Robot Garden. Some tasks for this week include:
* Setting up Robot Operating System on our computer
* Marking out where all the equipment and patricians will go
* Planning a security system
* Equipment restoration
* As always decorating

    If the computer is the same as i left it we installed Ubuntu 12.10 on the computer but ROS wasn't supported. So I'll blow it away and install Ubuntu 12.04 which is supported. I may be able to get to this on Sat or Sun. But if anyone beats me to it that is fine with me :).

      Worked on the computer today.

      ROS is installed and got the keyboard controller to work. Use the wireless to connect to an AR drone then type the following in a terminal "roslaunch ardrone_tutorials keyboard_controller.laun­ch" and the keyboard controls can be found on the install page here:­...

      Other Software was install for 3d modeling and printing:


      Still to be done:
      Making the Joystick work
      Google Sketchup <- bookmarked the install got as far as installing wine
      Lots and lots of updates need to be downloaded and installed.
