Calling all New York area patients with Mitral Valve Prolapse! This is a group for anyone in the New York area who has been diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse, has undergone surgery for mitral valve prolapse, or is facing mitral valve repair surgery. The idea is to bring together people with mitral valve prolapse with an experienced mitral valve specialist for a meaningful exchange of information on the condition and treatment options. Dr. T. Sloane Guy, MD is Associate Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery & Director of Robotic Cardiac Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine/New-York Presbyterian Hospital.
Each meetup will start with a presentation by Dr. Guy on mitral valve disease, treatment options, and indications for surgery followed by a participation question and answer session. Also, patients who have been through surgery will have the opportunity to share experiences with those facing it. Treatment strategies and options to be discussed will include watchful waiting, medical management, traditional surgery, totally endoscopic robotic mitral valve repair surgery, and evolving catheter-based options.
This meetup is not designed to and does not provide specific medical advice, professional diagnosis, opinion, treatment or services to you or to any other individual.
