• Vertical Hold- San Marcos

    Vertical Hold

Now only $10 for first time attendees! If you have ever filled out a waiver at Vertical Hold, this price will not apply. This deal only valid at the San Marcos location. For those of you living in North County and looking to climb on a weekday evening, here you go. All experience levels are welcome and I think you will enjoy yourself whether you climb regularly or if this is your first time. The cost is normally $17 but meetup members attending a meetup event get in for $15.30, (10% discount). This includes a day pass and gear rental (harness, shoes and chalkbag) is free if you mention you are with meetup. https://vimeo.com/176219301 This meetup is cross posted with two other groups and we typically have 5 to 12 people attending. If you are paying the $15.30 with cash, Vertical Hold management requests you attempt to bring exact change. They don't have much cash on hand and sometimes they have trouble making change. If you are new to rock climbing, no problem. The Vertical Hold staff will give you quick lesson and you'll be having fun in no time at all. If you are new and need the lesson, it would be greatly appreciated if you could arrive promptly at 6:30 so that we can give all newbies a lesson at the same time. When you arrive at the gym tell one of the employees that you are with meetup and they'll point you to us. The Gym is open until 9pm. • Wednesday Climbing @ Mesa Rim Mission Valley

    Mesa Rim Mission Valley

Come one, come all - let's climb until you fall! Also come join us afterward (7:30ish) for food and brews at Modern Times Brewery on 30th near Upas st or other brewery destination we've chosen for the week!

  • Weds. Nites @ Vertical Hold-Old Town

    Vertical Hold

Hey all, Let's climb again Wednesday night starting at 5:30/6ish (or whenever you can make it) till about 7:30/8ish, or as long as you like! Beginners are welcome. Look for one of the co-hosts when you get there or someone you recognize from the RSVP list.* We will introduce you to other members and, if you like, will get you paired up with someone to climb with. You will need to sign the Vertical Hold Waiver form and become belay certified by Vertical Hold before you can participate. http://www.verticalhold.com/first-time-visitors/ Climbing is dangerous and you climb at your own risk. Show your meetup profile and RSVP to the Vertical Hold staff for a discount on your day pass or membership. For those so inclined, we often head out after climbing for a brew and/or a bite. *There are several regular climbers who do not RSVP, so even if the RSVP list is short, there will most likely be several more people attending.

  • Wed. Night Mesa Rim-Mira Mesa

Mesa Rim Climbing & Fitness Center

All are welcome, but need to at least pass a belay test and have harness, shoes, and belay device (or be willing to rent). If you are not already a member you will need to pay a fee, and sign a waiver, etc. The idea here is to provide a meetup on Weds. for those who are up North and have trouble getting to Mission Valley due to rush hour traffic...Mesa Rim has told me that meetup participants get a $4 discount for the day (so total cost is $18.) I have to submit your name in advance so they know who qualifies for the discount....

  • Monday Night Mesa Rim Mission Valley

    Mesa Rim Mission Valley

    • What we'll do Let's meet up around 5:30 pm and hit the walls at Mesa Rim for a few hours. This is a great chance to meet new climbers, find that outdoor partner, and power-up for the weekend climbing trips. New members will have to take a belay test before hitting the ropes and those interested in lead climbing should bring their own rope. Look for me, and I can get you partnered up with another climber. We'll usually be stretching out in the open area by the lead wall. You can also talk to the staff and ask for Peter from the meetup group and they can help you find us. Note: All levels are welcome; however, this is not a meetup for people who are not belay certified. Mesa Rim offers beginner belay lessons. Please call them to schedule a beginner lesson on a prior day before coming to the meetup. We require you to be belay certified at the minimum. • What to bring Shoes, harness, belay device, chalk bag • Important to know Must be belay certified with Mesa Rim.
