Come celebrate the summer solstice with a hike under the moonlight! Eric Nelson of the Palisades Interstate Parks Commission will be leading this moderate hike of approx. 5 miles.. FLASHLIGHTS or and HEADLAMPS are MANDATORY as is water.
NOT FOR BEGINNERS or anyone with Balance issues or that is not surefooted. Part of this hike is with limited light as we will be coming out after sunset, on uneven terrain with rocky areas .
Hiking boots or hiking shoes suggested for the woods trails, rocky in areas and don;t forget the BUG SPRAY.

This hike is on a Friday around COMMUTER TIME so Give yourself plenty of time to get there.

From northbound Palisades Interstate Parkway: Take Exit 2, U.S. Route 9W, Alpine, Closter. Stay straight off the exit (south), passing Park Headquarters on the left. Follow Alpine Approach Road south 1 mi. downhill. Go ¾ around the small circle, then continue north the rest of the way down the hill to the entrance to Alpine Picnic Area & Boat Basin.
From southbound Palisades Interstate Parkway: Take Exit 2, U.S. Route 9W, Alpine, Closter. Turn right (north) onto U.S. Route 9W. Immediately turn right (east) at the first light, Alpine Approach Road. Go beneath two overpass bridges, then bear right (south). Pass Park Headquarters on the left. Follow Alpine Approach Road 1 mi. downhill. Go ¾ around the small circle, then continue north the rest of the way down the hill to the entrance to Alpine Picnic Area & Boat Basin.
From Englewood Cliffs park entrance on Palisade Avenue at Palisades Interstate Parkway Exit 1: Enter park on Dyckman Hill Road, taking it downhill to Henry Hudson Drive (stay straight through gates to continue north, not taking hairpin turn to right). Stay north on Henry Hudson Drive 5 mi., passing Undercliff Picnic Area, straight through small circle at intersection with Alpine Approach Road and downhill to entrance to Alpine Picnic Area & Boat Basin.
