What we're about

All writers of any kind are welcomed! Whether you write for yourself and might want some feedback or you want to write but you need the motivation of group meetings to get you started. Or maybe you just want to sit back and chat with others so creatively inclined. The goal of this group is to be open and friendly, with just a side of writing critique and assignments. A place where we can discuss anything from writing to what interests we have. This group is not just for critiquing and trying to get published to help inspire creativity and friendship among fellow wordsmiths!

Write-In

Panera Bread

This meetup will be exclusively for getting your writing done. We will do a quick introduction and then get straight to writing. So come prepared to write! Bring whatever you will need to write, whether that's a tablet, portable keyboard or pencil/pen and paper. You can also bring anything you need for inspiration.

Panera Bread

Tentative agenda: 1. Introductions as necessary, to include: A. Background. B. Writing aspirations. C. What you would like to get from these meetings. D. Share some of your work, if you want. 2. Optional prompt for those who would like a nudge: TBA You don't have to do the writing prompt but it might be something to help kick start your imagination! 3. Share work for feedback. Please don’t let a lack of work keep you from attending. It is the mission of this group to help you light that spark. If you post work ahead of time in The Reviewing Arena on the Message Board under the “Discussions” link at the top of your screen, we’ll be able to provide more constructive reviews based on detailed analysis. 4. I will provide another writing prompt the day of the meetup! Again, it is optional but I hope that there will be participants! 5. Open discussion. Topics could include, but are not limited to: A. Recharging the creative batteries. B. Those dreadful demons of doubt. C. Tools of the trade.

Critique

Panera Bread

Please bring copies of your work for everyone. If you are going to be critiqued, please be ready for the hard truth! It may not be what you want to hear, but it may just be what you need to hear. Everyone please come with an open and honest mind. Those of us that will be doing the critiquing, don't be nice. Being nice may keep the person from being published. We are here to help each other grow to become great writers. But please make sure that whatever comments you give on the works are constructive criticism. We need to be firm but encouraging, so don't just talk about what might be wrong with the piece but what was also good in the piece.
