Erie Thursday Night Gravel
The Erie Thursday Night Gravel ride explores unpaved riding in and around Erie, CO. We ride on the open space trails and unpaved county roads during the fall and winter months. While the first few weeks have daylight for all or most of the ride, most weeks we ride in complete darkness. The routes vary each week and a GPS file for navigation will be provided. A cross\gravel bike or mnt bike is recommended. I find that 700x35 tires are great when the trail is clear of snow\ice and 700x42 winter tires (studded or snow specific) are great for snow and ice conditions. Any width of studded tire will be good for snow\ice.
What you need for the ride:
Bicycle with clearance for wide tires (700x32 or larger)
Headlight (recommend 900 lumens or greater)
Sealant in tire\tubes*
No blinking head or tail lights during the group ride
*There are goat head thorns on the trail and you will ride over them! Many riders had flat tires on rides last year. A vast majority were tires without sealant. Please put sealant in your tubes or tires. If you need help, let me know. The group will not wait for you if you flat AND don’t have sealant already in the tire\tube.
