This gravel loop is ride #6 in the RMCC Challenge Series (https://www.rockymountaincyclingclub.com/rmcc-challenge-series)
Ride #6 of the challenge series will take place on the same day as the Triple Crown Anti-Epic, but provides an abridged version, allowing you to "sleep in" but also get a solid day of gravel!
The total loop is 107 miles. Looking for a mini anti-epic option? It is straightforward to cut out Castlewood Canyon, which cuts the ride to 77 miles.
Given the length of the ride, let's meet at Pikes Peak Brewery in Monument at 7:30AM. We will go over ride details shortly before 8:00AM, with wheels rolling at 8:00AM.
Due to the length of the ride, this should be considered a drop ride although we will regroup on a periodic basis.
-- Fuel station in Franktown (mile 29 - "short" route only)
-- Fuel station in Elbert (outbound at mile 27/57 and inbound at mile 50/80).
"Short" route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31675150
Mini route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/31675170
NB: while there is some pavement - the start/end connector to Monument, and the Castlewood Canyon connector on the "short" route - plan for a full day of dirt roads that can be loose and washboard-like. The routes are fairly remote, so take note of your fuel stops and plan accordingly.
Post ride festivities: grab a beer and/or some food at Pikes Peak Brewery with your fellow riders! Full course anti-epic riders will begin trickling in around 4:00PM too!
Finally, non-dues-paying members are welcome and invited to join us on any ride! After three rides we do ask that you join the club: https://www.rockymountaincyclingclub.com/rmcc-membership-application-form
