Boulder Badass Caribou ride (gravel) Challenge Series #16

Do you like to ride gravel? Do you like to climb on gravel roads? How about a sense of backcountry adventure? If you answered yes to any of those then you will love this route. Fair warning: bring your climbing legs.

We roll from Amante Coffee (uptown) at 7:30 sharp.
I highly recommend downloading the GPX track for this ride and using it for navigation. I will not have any que sheets at sign in.

Some of the roads on this route are quite rough so I recommend a 40mm tire size. 38's would suffice, 35's might be a bit challenging in certain areas.

At mile 27 in Nederland I recommend a resupply at Salto Coffee Works. They are cyclist friendly, have great food and share space with Tin Shed Sports, the local bike shop. Don't stay too long though because after leaving Nederland we will make the 4 mile 1800' of vert climb up to the historic townsite of Caribou.

From the top of Caribou we will use FS 505, a jeep road with gigantic, deep mud pits. You'll want to ride or push around these pits! There is typically a line to do so but there could be areas where dismounting is best.
We will also be crossing Caribou Creek. It might be rideable, it might not. We'll see when we get there but be prepared to get wet feet.

In all, come prepared for fun and adventure. Ride a well maintained bike, we're going to be riding in a few remote areas.
