Pikes Peak

  • No location was chosen

    Pikes Peak: 14,110 feet

Saturday, March 9, 2013 (weather dependant)

    TH: Northwest Slopes

    Miles RT: 13.25

    Gain: 4,300

Route/Maps/Weather (Thanks!) - DO YOUR HOMEWORK:

    Avalanche Danger:  TBD

    Estimated Start Time: 7:00 AM

Estimated Finish Time: ??? Do not attend if you have plans later that afternoon, at a set time. This is going to be a long day, with a large group.

Special Gear: Microspikes, Gaiters and Headlamp (with spare batteries).  Floatation and ice axe TBD.  If someone has a set of radios to bring, that may be helpful.

Group Dynamics :  We will all stick together.  Decisions will be group decisions.  If we decide to split up, the minimum group size will be 2 and all will have to agree to split.

Where to Eat After:  TBD – suggestions as to where to go after for food/drink would be appreciated!

    About Me:

This trip will be cancelled if sustained wind forecast exceeds 35 MPH (or gust forecast over 50 mph), or the temps are brutal with wind.

I am not a guide, nor do I see myself as being a “leader” on the hikes/climbs I post.  I am simply looking for partners around my same skill level (beginner to border-line intermediate) to hike with.  OR, maybe someone who is more advanced, but wants to hike/climb the peak scheduled.

    Let’s climb!

James, what part of Denver are you leaving from? If you're near or going through the Capitol Hill area at all, can I claim one of the spots in your car?

Alex, I live in Capitol Hill so that should work well.

Oooo...this a good one, my first 14er via the Craggs. The trail is fairly easy, except the last pitch up the boulders...still not bad. Have fun!
