• Ride planning meeting

    New York Deli News

We would like your input on potential rides (day rides, overnight or multi day) for the upcoming season. Let's meet for brunch in a dedicated dining room to discuss our plans.

Please bring suggested destinations, dates and any special ride or road ideas. If you don't feel comfortable acting as ride captain on your suggested ride, we can find someone to fill that role. We will compile a club ride schedule for distribution to members. If you can't make the meeting, just send ride suggestion to [masked].

Please RSVP so we can advise New York Deli how many to expect.

  • Tuesday Ride to Severance

    Sam's No. 3 Aurora

Weather looks promising for Tuesday, March 2nd. How about a flatland ride to Severance for some Rocky Mountain Oysters (other food for the faint of heart) at Bruce's Restaurant in Severance.

Let's meet at Sam's #3 at 09:45 with stands up at 10AM. We'll stay east of I-25 on the way up through Brighton, Fort Lupton, Johnstown and Windsor. Bruce's has both indoor and outdoor seating.

After lunch we can discuss routes home. I'll probably go west of I-25 and back past Carter Lake and through Niwot and Morrison. Should be home by 4PM after a total of 175 miles.

  • "Summer" brunch ride to Kiowa

    Sam's No. 3 Aurora

    Rocky Mountain Riders
    From Roy (303)[masked]

Since it's still tropical, let's go for a patio brunch ride to Patty Ann's in Kiowa. We'll meet at Sam's #3 (2580 S. Havana) on Wednesday Dec. 9th at 8:45 for a 9AM departure. It's going to be really warm on Wednesday. Hope to see you then.

  • Flatland Ghost Town Tour

    Sam's No. 3 Aurora

Let's stay out of the smoke and high country and take a post Halloween visit to 2 ghost towns. We'll meet at Sam's #3 on Wednesday, Nov. 4th at 08:45. Kick stands up at 9:00 to head up 225 to 85 and North to the Exxon Station in Platteville (US 85 & CO 66) by around 09:45. We can meet any riders from up North there and top off gas tanks. From there it is about 100 miles to the ghost town of Willard. There are plenty of old buildings, a grainery and quite a few old stores, all of which are abandoned.
We'll then head about 50 miles to Ft. Morgan for a picnic lunch in a small park and a gas stop. Bring your sandwiches and a drink. Then it's about 18 miles to Orchard, CO, the town that was used to film James Michener's miniseries “Centennial”. Most if not all of the remnants of the production sets are now gone.
Then it is about 100 miles of back roads back to Sam's #3. The weather looks to be sunny and a high of 60 degrees.
Let me know if you would like a .gpx file for this route.
