Learn about the importance of managing stormwater in Milwaukee and help build a residential rain garden.
Milwaukee gets an average of 35 inches of rain per year! Hard surfaces, like rooftops and roads, lead to stormwater runoff that can sometimes cause flooding and contribute to aquatic pollution.
We will meet at West Side Academy (1945 N 31st St, Milwaukee, WI 53208) and walk over to the home of the rain garden recipient to install a rain garden. At the event we will also learn about stormwater management strategies and their benefits and how green infrastructure can lead to community resilience.
Please be prepared to do some digging, planting, and other general landscaping activities, like moving wheel barrows. If you have an extra shovel you are encouraged to bring one. We will provide gloves. Please reach out with any questions.
