What we're about

Rotary Adelaide West Club is a group of people passionate about helping others in our local community, plus those interested in networking among a group of peers from Adelaide's Business Community.

We run a balance of weekly meetings for full members of our Club; mixed with a range of projects and events throughout the year that our members run, assisted by people in the wider Adelaide Community.

MEETUP is a great way for us to meet you. And we are hoping that the sorts of projects we get involved with will match your interests. OR perhaps you would like to suggest a new idea? That's how Rotary works worldwide. Passionate people driving ideas and projects forward. Don't be shy.

Rotary Adelaide West will be honest and upfront in saying that we hope we can encourage you at some point to visit one of our Thursday Lunchtime (1pm to 2pm) regular meetings at the SAGE Hotel, 208 South Terrace, Adelaide. And that you might down the track even consider becoming a full member of our Club.

BUT we also understand if you would simply like to join in with helping with one of our projects.

Volunteer to support Adelaide's Homeless - 2.5 hours

Adelaide Central Market

• What we'll do Each fortnight, our team meet at the Adelaide Central Market to visit about 20 local traders at the end of their Saturday trade, to collect unsold food products these generous businesses donate, rather than throwing it in the bin. We have been visiting these traders since 2010, and have collected well in excess of $100,000 worth of fresh produce, meat and smallgoods, which we then deliver to 4 local Adelaide Homeless support groups, including the Salvos; Anglicare; Centacare and St Vincent De Paul. Collections last for about 2.5 hours. Often including time for a cup of coffee together :-) The day is not overly strenuous and no long distance walking is required. Anyone is welcome to join in with collections. We run a roster of people to ensure that no individuals feel compelled to come every fortnight. But you might like to just try it out ONCE to see what you think. That's just fine for us! We'd love to see you. You can contact our Project Managers if you'd like to know more or need to get in contact fast on the day:- 1) Xiu on[masked]) Cathy on[masked] • What to bring Comfortable walking shoes are a must. Preferably closed shoes for protection incase you drop a pineapple on your foot! Walking and talking is thirsty work - so a water bottle is also important to keep hydrated. • Important to know By working with the members of Rotary Adelaide West Club, it is important to note that you will NOT be pressured to become a full member of the Club. We have many 'friends' of Rotary that help our Club with various community support projects just like this. INSURANCE is very comprehensive within Rotary. As an official, registered project of our Club, you are covered incase of any mishap that might happen, regardless of whether you are a member of the Club or not.

Club Meeting : Guest Speaker : Networking : Enjoy

SAGE Hotel (formerly Grand Chifley)

• What we'll do Each week our Club meets to talk about our projects; share information about any general Rotary business and most weeks to hear a great GUEST SPEAKER (for about 25 minutes). Topics are highly varied, very informative and always very interesting. Meetings often draw numerous visitors interested in the topics presented. We would love you to be one of those visitors. You would NOT be expected to attend every week, even though our Club does meet every week. It is an opportunity for you to meet our members and learn a bit more about Rotary if you choose. Most of our members also have a meal for lunch. But it is not mandatory. We do need to know if you will be wanting to eat in advance so we can include your order with the Sage Hotel's chef. The atmosphere is very social. Meet a new business contact. Share a story. Present an idea for a project. Have a meal with us if you choose. Sit and relax. We're sure you will also enjoy the atmosphere. Feel free to bring a friend or colleague. Our membership is a mix of people in Business / Employment plus retirees who enjoy one another's company and the opportunity to serve our community through Rotary. We welcome any member of the public to come along. You will not be pressured into becoming a member. But we will happily introduce you to the work of our Club and members if interested to hear.
