Why do you join BOB? Select 1 or more: Train for an event , which event? Make friends. Start exercising. New riding routes. Other (please specify)

Joining BOB I am hoping will help to keep the fire burning with folks with a similar affair with the bike

How often do you ride? How long do you ride? At what speed do you ride?

I ride 3+ days / week. Live in West Linn work in SE Portland. Good hilly work out whenever I ride to - from work

What has been the longest ride you have been on recently?

The longest ride I have been on recently was the Willamette MS bike ride Aug 2012. That was a full century with a 50 mile ride next day. The temps this year made it especially tough, but those with MS have it tough day to day.Previously the longest ride was a 65 miler in Bend OR in 2007. I now feel my riding has purpose outside of my own wants. ( my Catholic upbringing doesn't allow for selfish pleasures without guilt)

Which type of rides will you prefer? Short (easy 10-20 mile) casual? Intermediate (12 mph or so, 35 mile plus)? Challenging (40 mile plus with hills, 16 mph)? A mix or other (please specify)

I prefer a mix of rides although in a group setting the longer rides at a good clip is exhilarating. It's just nice to know what the distance is before getting started to know how to prepare. 1 or 2 water bottles, Cliff bars etc. Gotta fuel the fire

What areas would you like ride ?

I like to ride pretty much any terrain. I like hills cause I know that what goes up must come down.

I have been riding all my life with a few interruptions from time to time. When I was a kid growing up outside Salem OR I thought nothing of riding the 6 miles into town. My wife Brenda has MS and so I now do the MS bike ride. Free beer, great folks.

What Alan E. is saying about this Meetup Group

Good group great rides. makes me look forward to my weekly ride. So many to choose from sometimes can be a challenge to pick just 1 or 2. The important thing though is to pick 1 for now and stay with it a while.
