WHAT IS NOMHOP (RUNNING DINNER)?

Nomhop (Running Dinner) is a dining event, bringing people from different areas together who share one passion; food. In a team of two or three people, you spend the evening going around Stockholm to eat a three-course dinner in three different locations, at the homes of food lovers. One of the locations will be your place, where you host and serve two visiting teams. The most fascinating part is that not until the very last hour will you know whom you will meet for the three different courses. Are you ready to greet and eat?

We make this event adventurous and FREE, so that you can invite all your friends, fellows, co-workers, neighbors. Really all? Indeed! Last times 200+ were strolling around Stockholm. Don’t hesitate and invite them all!

To ensure a smooth flow for the participants, the kitchen must be reachable within 30 minutes from T-Centralen. http://reseplanerare.sl.se

FAQs

WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A PARTNER FOR THE EVENING?

Remember that everyone is welcome – couples, singles, friends and colleagues. No problem if you register alone - make a note in the registration and we will try to find a cooking companion for you!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARTICIPATE IN RUNNING DINNER?

The event is free of charge. The only cost you will have is to cover the groceries required to cook a meal for six to nine people (including yourself), plus the drinks. On the other hand, others will be cooking and serving drinks to you. The bottom line is that you only pay for your own dinner. From our experience we learned that the meals served are approximately equal in value, although we cannot guarantee this. Anyway, the event is not about oysters and caviar but openness and company.

SHOULD WE BRING SOMETHING FOR OUR HOSTS?

Only two things: your brightest smile and an empty stomach. The hosting team takes care of the drinks since they know what drinks suit their meal best.

HOW MUCH PREPARATION TIME DO WE HAVE?

- If you make a starter, you have as much preparation time as you want.

- If you make a main course, you will be entering your house at about the same time as the guests. Prepare the ingredients in advance, cut those onions and set the table. Try to find a recipe that takes no longer than 45 minutes. The cooking itself will be done when your guests are there, so feel free to include them.

- If you make a dessert, you will also be entering your house at about the same time as the guests. You can choose either a recipe that can be completed before the event starts, or you involve your guests in the process. In that case, it should not take longer than 45 minutes.

The event is not just about eating together but also about cooking together. Still, the best jokes emerge in a messy kitchen!

I AM CONCERNED THAT STRANGERS WILL BE COMING TO MY HOUSE. CAN I TRUST THEM?

Don't worry – food lovers are nice people. The main idea is to spread the event among people who care about food and about the wellbeing of others. This is why you are encouraged to invite some of your friends. Moreover, the organisers know who is coming to your place and where they live, according to the registration information. However, the organisers cannot take responsibility for safety. So always be careful (particularly with that hot pan!).

WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW HOW TO COOK?

Call your mum! Be creative and google some dishes that you enjoy. Maybe you know a good cook who could be your partner for the evening?

HOW DO I GET AROUND?

It is up to you whether you bike, drive or go by public transport. The organisers recommend you to get a 24-hour ticket, as the participants will be located within approximately 30 minutes of T-Centralen.

WHAT IF I GET LOST?

We will send you the mobile phone numbers of the hosts in advance. That way you can call them if the location is hard to find.

IS THERE A DRESSCODE?

Smart casual: Just imagine it is birthday of your best friend and the Queen might be coming (or not).

RUNNING DINNER RULE NUMBER ONE: Take it easy and trust the flow! Follow the instructions from nomhop.com and find out the best mode of transport to get to your next host. Be on time! This is essential for the event to work. Otherwise you will make others wait. Plus delays mean less time to enjoy the meal that they prepared for you with all their heart. It worked in Italy – so you will be fine.
