Avignon is situated high above the river Rhône and encircled by medieval ramparts. Avignon's walled old town is a warren of cobbled streets, architectural treasures and lantern-lit passageways
Day 1 Friday June 23rd, 2017
Fly from London to Avignon. We will explore a little bit of Avignon depending on what time we arrive. Perhaps check out the Pope's Palace (Palais des Papes).
Day 2 Saturday June 24th 2017
In the morning check out some of Avignon other sites such as Rocher des Doms, Pont Saint Bénézet, Rocher des Doms or Angladon Museum (home to several Picassos as well as works by Manet, Cézanne and Sisley).
In the afternoon Wine Tasting in the famous Châteauneuf du Pape area just north of Avignon
Day 3 Sunday June 25th, 2017
We will explore Avignon culture and history. Maybe make a day trip to Fountains du Cluse. On the way see Market town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue for one of the most famous Sunday Markets in Provence. Later, take a boat ride to the leafy Ile de la Barthelasse and we can grab a cooling drink .
Day 4 Monday June 26th, 2017
We will take a taxi or train to Saintes Maries de la Mer Check in to our beach hotel in Saintes Maries de la Mer. We can explore the town and relax on the beach front. Please note - you can also leave this morning back from London if you do not have that many days off work.
Day 5 Tuesday June 27th, 2017
Today we've set aside as a beach and relax day but there are also some fun activities. Saintes Maries de la Mer is located in a giant river estuary National Park. We can visit some of the only area's in Europe with nesting African Flamingo's - 10,000's of them. Also famous are the marsh white horses and there are several stables that offer inexpensive rides - no experience needed.
Day 6 Wednesday June 28th, 2017
Today we will fly back from London
Transport - Getting There and Away
Our core group of people will be flying from Heathrow to Marseilles on June 23rd and returning from Montpellier to Gatwick on June 28th. We'll post our flights and encourage everyone to book the same.
However if the time or airport do not suit you there are several other options and its easy to get to Avignon on your own. The closest airports are Marseilles, Nimes and Montpellier. Also please note on the way out there is a nonstop Eurostar service leaving St. Pancras at 7:20am that goes directly to Avignon through the tunnel and without changes.
Transport - Getting Around
Between Avignon and the beach town of Saintes Maries de la Mer we have the option to take a taxi at £40p or the train for £20p. The group will decide on how we should all do the transfer.

£120-£150 for 5 nights on shared basis with other person.
£240-£300for 5 nights with own room
