New Meetup: Wednesday Night Ride and Imbibe

Announcing a new Meetup for The San Antonio Hiking & Outdoors Meetup Group!

What: Wednesday Night Ride and Imbibe

When: September 9,[masked]:30 PM

Bamberger Nature Park
12901 Babcock Rd south of UTSA
San Antonio, TX 78249

We will depart from the Bamberger Park parking lot Bamberger Park and head to OP Schnabel park, ride the trails at OP and then head back to Bamburger. The total mileage should be about 8-10 miles and will take 1h30m or less.

There are 2 options for this ride: mostly paved or mostly unpaved. The mileage/time is about the same for each. (Chris will lead riders on the unpaved option and Shannon will lead riders on the paved option.)

What to expect on the unpaved option:

If anyone has not ridden OP Schnabel on a mountain bike, it can be slightly demanding. Much of it can be ridden without any worries of falling down, but there are a couple of spots that may be challenging for novices. As always, once we gather at the meeting location, I can adjust things to meet the needs of the group. If you want to come but are unsure of your abilities/equipment, give me a call/email and I will be more than happy to help out.

What to expect on the paved option:

Between the 2 parks there are about 9 miles of paved trails. These are nice wide trails with some hills. It's a smooth ride, we go fairly quickly, and you will be navigating through light "traffic" (other riders, pedestrians, etc.) You will also have to cross Babcock and ride a short distance on the road.

Bring a helmet, gloves are recommended, and at least 1 water bottle and/or a camel back. There is limited water available on the course. You will also need an extra bike tube and a way to inflate it. Most of us will have pumps, but just in case.

After Party
Afterwards we will head to Hills and Dales to hang out for a bit to cool down and visit over frosty adult beverages.

As always, let me know if there are any questions/concerns. Hope to see many of you there.

Shannon & Chris Adolph
