Updates from Sierra Club 20s & 30s

From: Sierra Club 20s & 3.
Sent on: Monday, November 23, 2015, 10:13 PM

Hello Sierra Club 20s & 30s Meetup members,

Happy Thanksgiving week! Please read on below for some updates.

Candidates Needed! Run for the 20s & 30s Section Management Committee

The 20s & 30s Section needs your help! We are currently seeking candidates for the 2016 Management Committee (MC). The MC is made up of 5 Sierra Club members who handle a variety of the 20s & 30s Section's behind-the-scenes duties, such as setting policies, managing finances, organizing general meetings, and marketing the section. If you are enjoying hiking and camping with the 20s & 30s Section, please consider helping us continue to hold these events by running for the 2016 MC.

MC members are elected by the 20s & 30s Section's membership for one-year terms that run from January 1 to December 31. The elections determine the 5 members who will serve on the committee; the newly elected members then decide among themselves who will serve in the positions of Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Member-at-Large. The committee meets approximately once every other month (less or more as needed), but also conducts business between meetings through email. To run for the Management Committee, all you need to do is be a current member of the national Sierra Club and submit a candidate statement of 500 words or less outlining your ideas/experience and why our members should elect you. Please send your statement to Jose Mendez at [address removed] by December 6, 2015.

Voting will be open from December 13 to December 28, 2015. Watch your email for the link to the ballot. Anyone who is a current Sierra Club member and participant in the 20s & 30s Section is eligible to vote. You will need your official National Sierra Club membership number to submit a ballot.

40 Years of the 20s & 30s Section

The 20s & 30s Section celebrated the ironic milestone of turning 40 years old at a banquet on November 8. Leaders and members from throughout the years, including some of the original outings leaders who established the Section as the 21-35 Singles Committee, were in attendance. Thank you to all outings leaders, Management Committee members, volunteers, members, and friends for a fabulous 40 years.
