Always wanted to try standup comedy? Learn the real tools in one day.
Back by popular demand! I'll be back in San Diego to hold a 1-day Comedy Crash Course, Saturday 8/31. I am very happy to see some people who took this class developing into great comics in San Diego. The usual comedy class is 6 weeks long, cost hundreds, taught by someone who's not even a real comedian, this class teaches you the real tools in one day.
Who am I? I’m Jimmy Ouyang, (www.JimmyComedy.com) I started off doing comedy in San Diego, where I created this group. I spent 3 years in the San Diego comedy scene, did every show you can think of, from bars to theatres. Then I moved to LA. I have toured the country doing comedy at Colleges and clubs. I just recently filmed a comedy special hosted by Donnell Rawlings (Chappelle show) on STARZ, premiering in September. I have been on “2 Broke Girls” and will be on this season of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” Most importantly, I know comedy and I know the scene/people in San Diego comedy.
I’m coming back to SD to headline the Comedy Palace 8/30 & 8/31, during that time, I want to offer this course again.
The course is $50 and is exclusive to this group (feel free to RSVP for your friends also). It is a 4 hour course and everyone gets a chance to be on stage trying out their jokes (it’s optional if you don’t want to). I am keeping class sizes small, no more than 12 people, so everyone can get their fair share of time and feedback.
The course will cover:
Joke writing techniques
Set structures, Stage techniques
Different type of comedy shows, venues
How to get started (specifically in San Diego)
People and places you need to know in SD
The Progression of a comedy career
How to make a living as a comedian
Trying out your material on the stage (optional)
& NEW additional topics:
Breaking into the lucrative college market
The move to make it in Hollywood
Getting an Agent/Manager
Doing a TV set
Comedy and acting
