  • This location is no longer available

La Primavera Orchards is a small pesticide free farm owned and run by one of our own Local Farm Fan Members Nino Cupaiuolo! Come and join us on November 19th, 2011 at 11:00am for Persimmon Picking right off the trees.

We did have persimmon picking visit last year and it was fantastic. I love these persimmons. Many of us made a persimmon chutney from the persimmons we picked. I gave mine out as gifts, they were a hit!

Admission:The admission is free and open to all individuals and all age ranges.   The farm visit will consist of: Nino telling us about the history of his farm, a tour of the farm, and then persimmons picking.

How long: Expect the visit to last ~ 3 hours depending on the size of the group.

RSVP: Please RSVP for the meetup if you are interested.  We will be limiting the group size to 15-20 adults on this visit.

Important Info:  Please bring our own bag (or bags is more realistic!) to place and carry your own persimmons. In addition please bring a pair of clippers to cut your persimmons off the tree. If you have extra clippers please bring them along to share.

Cash! Please bring cash in order to pay for your fruit.

Look forward to seeing you at the farm!

As a member of this group you will get an invite as soon as the event it set up. Right now the fruit aren't ripe yet to be picked. Maybe in a couple of week. The farmer will let us know.

how much do you charge per lbs of persimons?

    October 23, 2015

    • Melin

The price changes every season. This is a private orchard and access to pick is by invitation only. So, please keep an eye out in a couple of weeks when I announce persimmon picking event. The fruit right now is not quite ripe for picking yet.

Hello, everyone I'm new to the group. I also love persimmons. I was wondering if it is too late to attend the persimmon picking at La Primavera Orchards? I would love to fly there just for the opportunity to get some and bring them back to Louisiana. How do I register?

    October 25, 2013

  • Melin

No. Sorry. This is a private home and orchard of the farmer. It is NOT a U-pick farm open to the public. Plus, the persimmons are not quite ripe enough to be picked this week. You have entered comments on last year's event. Please check our calendar and pick a suitable date for you attend and sign up to be on the Wait List. Thank you.

Nino is friendly and welcoming and his home/farm are beautiful. For $10 we walked away with bags brimming with fresh picked persimmons, pomegranates, macadamia nuts, tangerines and even a cherimoya, as well as recipes to use the produce and home baked persimon cookies. Thanks Theresa for organizing!

We've never picked persimmons before, haven't really eaten them either, so I hope to get tips and tricks, maybe even some recipes, from those who went last year... :-)

The persimmons will be 1.25/ lb. And they are fresh and ripe, and so sweet! Right off the trees. Better than a grocery store where they are picked early, so not as ripe, and may have been sitting out for a while.

Ju-chin, How many adults do you plan to bring? There are still several slots open to fill up our maximum. Please just let me know how many adults you plan to bring and I will adjust the RSVP list. I don't think it should be an issue if you are bringing children ( just let me know how many)

If we're registered to go, can we bring other people who are not on the list? I'm driving from OC and would like to bring other family members. Please let me know. Thanks!

Totally forgot about the persimmon chutney! Jeffrey and I enjoyed last year's trip so much and bought bags and bags of Fuyu and dried half of them. We also bought a limited amount of Hachiya that we froze and ate...tasted like sorbet.
