**SOLD OUT** First Friday Films: Midnight in Paris

If you haven't seen this delightful film yet, you're in for a treat! If you have seen it already, come enjoy it again with the enhanced experience of a pre-film lecture.

Picasso and Modigliani are just a few of the artists showcased in the San Diego Museum of Art’s new exhibition, A Harmony of Line, who also make cameos in the Woody Allen film Midnight in Paris (2011). While the museum’s exhibition focuses on the artists who were key figures in Paris during the first half of the 20th century, the film illustrates and explores the interconnectivity of the creative community as a whole in Paris during the 1920’s.

Before the film, Curators Dr. Ariel Plotek and Dr. John Marciari will discuss the current exhibition A Harmony of Line: Selections from the School of Paris. The film’s approximate running time is 94 minutes and it is rated PG-13.

Only $5 for SDCC Meetup members! Just mention "San Diego Creative Connection."

Please also note that there is a possibility this movie will sell out. The museum advises that we purchase tickets in advance. Simply stop by the SDMA admissions desk during business hours, or call Karina at (619)[masked] to purchase tickets in advance (remember to mention "San Diego Creative Connection" for the discounted price).

Nice lecture, yummy-looking victuals. I'm glad Rachel let us know well in advance that this was going to be popular and to get our tickets fast.

This was a really fun event. I only met 4 members of the group so I didn't really feel it was a group event - but, it was organized well and we were kept updated.

Wonderful venue, wonderful film. So glad that we saw the number of people wanting to come and realized we needed to get tickets on our own. BUt thanks for the organization, Rachel!

Super fun, nice people, great movie. I thought the bistro idea was really fun to but I am vegetarian. I think a policy about coming early in the evening to save seats would be nice just so that it is clear. Lot's of people were doing it and I think that is fine. Maybe just to clarify that it is alright or not so that everyone knows.

It was great to meet up with so many wonderful people from the group, and I likes the movie even better the second time! :)

I liked the socializing, and the movie when in '20s Paris did seem fun, but Woody Allen delivering Woody Allen dialogue is thousands of percent better than Owen Wilson filling the Woody role. I'll have to see it again at home when my insomnia kicks up next time.

It looks like I'll be the one handing out name tags tonight, which is great because I'll get to see all of you! (Just FYI that you'll need to write in your name; I'll have markers). Please change your RSVP here if you don't have a ticket, and also let us know if you have any extras to offer folks. Thanks, and see you soon!

Good morning! Just a reminder that I'll be printing out name tags today (you'll have the choice between your name or blank), so please update your RSVP if your plans change. If you get a chance, stop by SDMA today or tomorrow to snag a ticket, just in case the event sells out. Doors open tomorrow at 6:30 pm. See you then!

FYI, Amy from SDMA says: "The bar service starts in our café at 6:30pm, and the doors will open right around then."

Hi Stacey, just following up to see if you still plan to split the Charcuterie or if I should ask if anyone else would like to share with me.

    Hello everybody,

I bought Charcuterie and a Movie Package for Two, for $40. Unfortunately my guest will not be able to attend. Anybody interested in buying my other half for $20? Please let me know. We can meet at the will call window. Thank You and thank you Rachel for letting us know about this event. Looking forward to it!!

I'll be going to SDMA tomorrow to buy my tickets. If anyone wants me to also buy theirs in advance, please PayPal me the correct amount ($5 per ticket) at: [masked]. I must have your payment before 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. I'll see if they'll keep the tickets at will-call, or I'll meet up with you at the event.

Just a note that I found out today that we can't purchase tickets for the film over the phone (the wine & food package can still be purchased via phone, however). The BEST WAY to pre-purchase a ticket is to go to the museum itself and buy one (be sure to mention "San Diego Creative Connection" for the $5 discount). Or you can always buy one the day of, but please be aware the event may sell out. Sorry for the confusion; see you soon! :)

OK Stacey I called and paid my $20. They said all you have to do is call and pay the other half. :-) and say you are with me.

Stacey, I agree. I would like to share. Let me know for sure and I will buy a ticket. Barb, maybe we can do the Prado another time. :-)

Linda and Stacey, happy hour sounds like fun. Can't beat The Prado's flat bread and chipolte hummus!

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in meeting early for Happy Hour at the Prado?

    January 30, 2012

  • Rachel M.

Hi, movie fans! What a great response for this event. I find it's always a challenge to get everyone together with such a large RSVP. I'm open to any suggestions anyone has. I've asked SDMA if we could use some identifying stickers or nametags for everyone but I have yet to hear back. I'll keep you posted on that, and let me know if you have any other ideas. Thanks!

To answer El's question: Yep, no limit on guests for this event. Thanks for the great response, y'all! Should be fun. :)
