What we're about

Welcome to the Hau`oli Strummers ukulele club of San Diego. Hau’oli is Hawaiian for happy and that’s what we are. We are also a great community of uke players who get together to strum, sing, learn, teach, share, and most of all, have fun. We welcome anyone and everyone to join us.

Skill Level
We welcome everyone at all skill levels from the newest uke noobs to total uke stars. If you’ve never strummed or sung a note in your life or even if you are just shy, our club is a great place to be. The strum along format makes it easy to be as anonymous as you like while you’re learning and you’ll never be thrust into the spotlight when that isn’t your desire. If being in the spotlight is something you seek, there are plenty of opportunities to do just that.

We play a wide variety of music including Rock, Country, Standards, 23 Skidoo, Hawaiian and more. Over the years we have compiled a great songbook containing all the songs we play at the meetings. Songbooks are available as a free PDF and hard copies are available for sale or loan at the meetings.

Our main meetings are on Tuesday nights starting at 6:30 and ending about 8:30. We have all kinds of other events too. Check the event announcements on the Home page for more information on all our events. Come check out a meeting it's really fun.

Questions or Comments?
There is more information in the "Pages" section of our Meetup site. You can also contact us by joining the Meetup group, sending a message, posting on the group message board or better yet - come to a meeting, we'll chat and have some fun.

Hope to see you soon! Mahalo!

No Location Yet

This is our weekly Tuesday Meetup - Come and join us! Everyone is welcome!

We welcome all skill levels and we play a wide variety of music styles. Come on down and make new friends, improve your Uke skills, and have some fun all at the same time. Meetup starts at 6:30pm and is over around 8:00 - You can't miss us!

This meeting is "Strum Along" format which means everyone plays and sings the same song at the same time. The songs are requests from the club, picked from the main songbook. The songbook can be downloaded at the link below. Print, practice and bring to the sing along! Songbook hard copies will also be available for loan and/or purchase at the meeting.

Thursday at Vacation Island (Not an online event)

Vacation Isle

Please come join us at Vacation Island every Thursday at 4:00pm. We'll be doing a sing-a-long much like the other Strummers events. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged. Directions: Head west into Paradise Point and take the immediate left. Head south and stay left along Ingraham Street to near the next bridge. It winds to the right just before the water. We'll be somewhere in that area. (Look for the crazy ukulele players) Bring a chair, a music stand, the books, a fleece and/or some kind of warm jacket as it can get breezy, a mask - even though we try to social distance, your uke and a smile!
(This is an in-person event - not online. This site just keeps marking it as online even though I have repeatedly marked it as an in-person meet up).

Volunteer and spread ukulele love at the San Diego Central Library

San Diego Central Library

*Please Read the Entire Post*
It includes details regarding the SD Library Volunteer procedures that are required for attendance.

Uke it Up For the Kids
Come join us for an hour of playing music at the library! If you like ukes, kids and silliness, you will have fun.

Look for us in the back of the first floor which is the children's library.

Parking is available in the library's underground garage (loop around and head North on 11th to find the entrance). You get two hours free with validation, which should cover the time required and we may have parking passes if needed.

What you Need
Don't forget your uke and a stand if you have it. Hard copies of our kids songbook will be provided. If you have kids' songs you think may work, feel free to bring copies of those and lead a song or two.

Hard copies of the songbook will be provided at the event but if you’d like to preview and practice, click click the link below to download the PDF.
