David Mihm from MOZ: The Competitive Local Search Landscape

David Mihm, Director of Local Strategy at Moz will discuss: The Competitive Local Search Landscape

Sponsored by

Description: With one out of every three searches--including half of all mobile searches--showing local intent, few disciplines within SEO offer as much opportunity to bring in new customers as Local. Moz's David Mihm will take you through the evolution of the local search landscape -- particularly the evolution of Google's local search algorithm and where it might be headed -- as he documents his strategy for analyzing and acting on local search results.

You'll learn:

• The major factors for ranking well in local searches (and why they're important)

• No-brainer fundamentals that every brick-and-mortar business (and the agencies serving them) should implement

• Tactics for auditing your clients' local search presence and learning from their competitors--whether local or national

• Where to increase your local search focus throughout the second half of 2014 and into 2015

Since there are so many good marketers who attend SEM SD, I wanted to input from a few of you. What do you believe is an acceptable GB of RAM in a laptop for SEO professionals?

    • Ben W.

Thank you for the reply Mike. Normally I simultaneously run Chrome, Safari, FireFox, Evernote and Microsoft Excel. My current laptop is a 2012 MacBook Pro (2.5GHz Intel Core i5, 4GB of RAM), but has often been freezing with only 1 browser and MS Word open. Last night I bought a MacBook (2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM, SSD drive). Overall I am wondering if I should keep this new MacBook or return it and upgrade my current MacBook.

Here's my best advice: buy the best hardware you can afford. You'll never be sorry because software will always outpace h/w. And whatever you buy, it will be obsolete in 6 mos anyway, so buy the best and it will be still acceptable a year or two from now.
