And now, on with the show!

Duck Soup (1933) Starts: 6:10 PM, Ends: ~7:20 PM

Starring: The Marx Brothers -- including Zeppo!, Louis Calhern, Margaret Dumont
Director: Leo McCarey
Plot: The bankrupt state of Freedonia borrows a fortune from wealthy widow, Mrs. Teasdale, who installs Rufus T. Firefly as the new dictator/president. Soon, Freedonia is at war with neighboring Sylvania (before it was a TV set…), and general madness ensues! The greatest of the Marx Brothers' movies is a hilarious romp of a political satire -- and includes the funniest silent movie bit (the "mirror" scene, below) since Buster Keaton!

I wanted to post this before I forget: Harpo Marx and Lucille Ball mirror routine. Season 4, Episode 7. It was 1955, after "Lucy and Ricky" moved to Hollywood on the show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHRzyOttJS0

That was great. The best part was the end where they hugged and laughed like best friends.

Permit me to rephrase that... "Thanks to Russ for organizing (including the quiz questions and providing the chocolates), Jan for *administering* the quiz and *distributing* the chocolate prizes, and to everyone for a wonderful evening." See y'all in 2014.

Wacky movie with lots of great puns. Really enjoyed the gathering afterwards, including all of Jan's trivia questions. Didn't win any chocolates, but had lots of fun! Thank you, Russ, for organizing.

Is anyone interested in staying to see Miracle of Morgan's Creek? Classic Preston Sturges. Very funny. I will meet you in the lobby at 7:15 if you are up for it, but I do sit downstairs. Love to feel like a little kid at the Saturday Matinee, looking up at the big screen.
