OK, we don't have that many campers, so I'm opening this up at the last minute in case anyone is free and wants to join us on our day hikes this Saturday. No need to RSVP for this if you are signed up for camping :-)
We'll be hiking down from the KOA campground at Costanoa for an about four mile loop down to the ocean and back to the campground. After a brief lunch there, we'll take our cars a few miles up Whitehouse Canyon Road (right next to Costanoa), then take a four mile hike to the top of Chalk Mountain.
See complete description of the hikes here: http://www.meetup.com/SF-Bay-Area-Geology-Hiking/events/166975422/
To find us, wait on Highway 1 about a half-mile north of the entrance to Costanoa. There is a large eucalyptus grove on the inland side of the road, with a gated dirt road coming down from the campground. If you get there early, feel free to walk up this road to find us--we're at the first campground at the top of the road.
On Friday night or Saturday morning, I'll send my cell number to those who have RSVP'd for this hike, just in case you can't find us.
This is the last minute, so please only RSVP if you know you are going to make it. The weather prediction is for temperatures in the high 50's, but no rain.
