Networks

What is your interest in joining this group?

I will be managing the network and approximately 100 servers to be used for application deployment. I like to stay up-to-date on solutions available for deployment, hardware allocation, monitoring, security, user authentication, and the like.

What's your technical expertise?

During the Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, I have taken on several roles, mostly focusing on network architecture and security. In this, I managed Linux, BSD, and Cisco ASA firewalls, as well as Cisco Catalyst switches and the Snort intrusion detection system. Additionally, I drafted portions of our security policy, and I also managed the Windows ActiveDirectory architecture. While at Texas A&M University, I assisted in design and implementation of the Zenoss network monitoring system, which we deployed in a cluster of ten servers to monitor approximately 4600 switches and routers across the university campus. I wrote scripts to interoperate with our existing network information database and our user authentication system. Furthermore, I managed a Puppet system to manage the monitoring cluster from a central location.

Would you like to present at a future meetup?

I would love to.

What would you like to see presentations on? Topics of interest...

* Centralized management * User account lifecycle management tools * Python packaging and deployment * Web application load handling

Introduction

I have a computer engineering degree from Texas A&M University, where I competed in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition for three years. I am now a software engineer of operations at imo.im.
