The ongoing digital transformation with Industrial IoT isn't about finding the needle in the haystack of big data - it's about the relentless focus on deriving new business value from digitizing and optimizing industrial operations at the edge and in the cloud. The next wave of business benefits in productivity of plants and supply networks from the Industrial IoT will not come from collecting more data, but processing the right data at the right place with a plethora of digital twins. Digital twins will be distributed at the edge and in the cloud, and leverage scalable computing to deliver business value within and outside of a plant. OEMs such as Metso are preprocessing data in their rock crushing machines utilizing digital models and analytics to deliver greater value from their machines, and also moving selected data into the cloud for further analysis. We will discuss why big data will become less relevant in the future, and why it will increasingly be replaced with contextualized data and digital twins that are embedded in devices, machines and the cloud.

Sujeet's leadership is instrumental in driving business growth by bringing The Connected Enterprise to life for customers through innovative product platforms and architecture, world-class partners and ecosystem, engineering best practices, global R&D, and industry standards. A strategic leader and engineer with a unique perspective on technology, innovation, and customer needs, he serves on the board of directors of Proto Labs (PRLB), and a number of government, industry and higher education advisory boards. He holds over 40 patents and has received a number of distinguished honors for his engineering practices and technology leadership. Sujeet earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Florida.
